Streetscapes

The re-design and renovation of the existing streetscape median improvements as part of the Long Beach Metro Blue Line transit facility.  The impetus for this project was to promote water conservation, reduce maintenance costs, and improve aesthetics and branding along the Long Beach Boulevard Corridor. The project involved schematic design and creation of image boards depicting the proposed improvements. These design concepts became the tools used to create a partnership between the City of Long Beach and LA Metro, who are sharing the renovation and upgrade costs.  Project elements include the preservation of the existing palm trees and the incorporation of stylized arched fencing elements, decorative rock cobble, stabilized decomposed granite paving, and water efficient plant material. All existing irrigation will be replaced with subterranean drip irrigation with a CalSense controller system.
