Providing opportunities for people of all abilities across our community is critical to the success of any recreational system. Merely providing generalized equipment and standardized planning is considered unacceptable to the County of Orange. Working with RJM Design Group, OC Parks staff conducted a county-wide disability assessment. Using surveys, geospatial analysis, and census research, RJM developed a strategy to implement design techniques for all ages and abilities, while ensuring to meet specific community needs. This plan not only provides for specific recommendations for physical abilities in playgrounds but also maintenance recommendations to ensure parks are kept in top condition for the regional influences they endure.
