Gardena Aquatics & Senior Center

Gardena, CA

Aquatic facilities, community centers

The Gardena Aquatic Center and Senior Center was an outdated existing facility with shuttered Primm Memorial Pool and (2) fourplexes. In 2019, the City determined that the Primm Memorial Pool was no longer operational due to maintenance and safety concerns. Since the time the pool has been nonoperational, the City has acquired (2) additional adjacent parcels to expand the site and add a senior center and other recreational amenities. The City of Gardena solicited architectural design teams to renovate the existing facility and design the site expansion.

New programming includes a new 25 yard (8) lane pool, diving bay, connected learner/fitness pool with ADA ramp, new bleachers and shade structures, exercise equipment, and a 12,000 square foot building that will house locker rooms for the pool as well as senior activities.

The goal of the City of Gardena is to design a community-based all-inclusive aquatics center that provides a variety of features, which meet the needs of residents of all ages and demographics. This new facility will provide a wide range of opportunities for the public to enjoy using state-of-the-art design, equipment, and
technology to ensure a clean, safe environment.
